The view here is of the river, Lady Bird Lake, but, the swan lives equally at Barton Springs.
Painted around 2003, based on a photograph I took while taking my oldest granddaughter for a walk on Austin's then still-emerging Hike & Bike Trail, Swan on Town Lake (the river portion partitioned by a dam and now renamed Lady Bird Lake) represents a personal seminal connector between Austin's Barton Springs and Austin's Hike & Bike Trail. The trail crosses Barton Springs via a Pedestrian Bridge near where the springs joins the Colorado River. The Hike & Bike Trail is essentially the approximately 11 mile path around the manmade lake portion of the river.
The view here is from the south side of the river looking north. It's interesting how visible the north side of the Hike & Bike Trail were just a decade ago and how much the vegetation, with the care now given, has grown up along the shore.
Seaholm Power Plant's three smokestacks are reflected on the water, parallel to three trees reflections on the right. Portions of the old power plant have been preserved and condos have been built around the old structure.
Also mentioned in my previous image, Southern Dogface Butterfly Feasting on December Lantanas Austin Texas v1, I am working my way into an extended series about a portion of Austin I've lived close to the most time my wife and I have lived in Austin.
I hope you enjoy my growing collection of Austin images. Since the series is expected to last quite a few weeks or months, I'll occasionally also post images from Paris and Vermont, plus florals and butterflies, and hopefully a text-image combination as well. More into winter, I'll post a few of my rare snow pictures, from Vermont and Austin - something "very" rare here in Austin. :)

Absolutely stunning Felipe! The textures are amazing as it pulls you into this amazing work! Looking forward to the rare snow pictures!
Felipe Adan Lerma replied:
Those are very kind words, Shelley, thank you (smiles). My larger snow one (of 2 snow paintings, lol) is even trickier to photo than my swan painting. It's much bigger, 32x40, and of course is mostly white :) But it has nuances and textures. With the swan I just had to keep retaking the picture, then finally comparing the digital to the original til I got it close as possible :)
Sarah Loft
Love this impressionist style approach, Adan! Beautiful colors and textures.
Felipe Adan Lerma replied:
Thank you so much, Sarah - I've kept a tight lid on this one for many years. Difficult to capture the true texture work well, but decided it was time :)
Robert Bales
Very nice painting with great texture and composition!! v/f/t
Felipe Adan Lerma replied:
Robert, thank you so much - so glad you like the texture and setup. I still remember (over 12 years ago) placing crossing layers of colors and waiting for them mostly dry so I could layer again :)
