It's ironic that I only have a small image size of the largest (40x60 in) original work I've done (smiles).
Painted in the mid-80s in Galveston, I made the canvas (one of three) at an art class from John Stovall at Galveston College where we also learned building our own custom canvases.
Painted in acrylic I used masking take to create my edges. This allowed me to paint more freely, easily running over my intended edges and just enjoying letting the paint flow in the direction I wanted without worrying to stop "in time."
My visual intent was to create a mildly ambiguous design that suggested both flowers and seashells. Both were and are quite popular in Galveston where the weather and location supply plenty of both :)
Currently with family, this is the only work of the three 40x60s I think I still know where it probably is. I do have the 30x40 ThreeCups circa 1984 that predated the 3 larger versions, and hope to have it listed here on Fine Art America soon.

Joe, thanks so much! It definitely can be seashells! :) When I painted this in Galveston I wanted the viewer to decide if these were more like flowers or more like seashells, so I called them cups :)

Gorgeous and creative ! It must be seashells, as I'm getting this underwater observer perspective ... l/f

Jack, thank you so much for the wonderful comment - I must’ve been happier than I realized back in the early 80s - amazing what perspective time gives :)
