Title
The Crack of Time
Artist
Felipe Adan Lerma
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas Paper
Description
My first original art - water soluble oils on black canvas panel - since 2010!
A bit rough and very reminiscent of my first original abstracts in the early 80s - free flowing, heavy in texture, and, if my wife is correct, powerful in intent (smiles).
It is, even to me, a bit primal, and thus the title, “The Crack of Time.”
Based loosely on a sunrise image I took while recently in Vermont (which I hope to post later this year), I did switch from brushes to palette knife.
I needed to both have the freedom to slash through seven years of painting-incubation (and photography evolvement) plus have an easier time “cleaning up.” Such are the choices one faces as a senior vs a still spunky sorta young guy :)
Another change from previous original oil work is I’m using impasto medium vs straight paint as before. The medium in this work is very thick. A new item arriving soon will be a more buttery mix. We’ll see how that changes things!
There is also more of original art work featured at Fine Art America Collection at - https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/felipeadan-lerma.html?tab=artworkgalleries&artworkgalleryid=702859 .
Please note, there is both an image only and poster version of this painting available.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

I really like this piece, great colors and contrast, it reminds me of an early sunrise!

Thanks, Tiffany! It's primordial enough I think it could be a "very" early sunrise! 😊

Stephen - a belated but grateful “thank you!” for the like and follow! These style works are brief moments when I can’t help myself & let the paint express itself. I’m often as surprised as anyone else what develops :)
