Even for Central Texas and Austin, seeing a small yellow butterfly and a healthy sprig of lantanas still in bloom and flutter was too unusual to resist. This is a small series I was so happy to finally get a few shots for.
My wife and nearly four year old grandson had been alerting me whenever they spotted one or more of the small yellow butterflies and Id rush out, sometimes forgetting my camera, and try to catch them in a moment or two where they were still long enough for my young seniors hands to steady and shoot (smiles). This one time, and only this time, I happened to have the car parked near a large lantana bush near the garage. Already a little tired from whatever it was I was doing and have already forgotten, I leaned against our car, and waited. I guess just being still and peaceful must have helped, because soon enough, the little yellow butterfly settled here, then there, then atop another lantana bloom, before flutter skipping the air to another yard.
Though in the middle of finishing a Vermont sunrise series, and starting an Austin November-December series, I wanted to get at least this one yellow butterfly image in. As I work on the new Austin Hike & Bike Trail series Ill take a creative break from that and now and then post another in this little series. I guess in some ways Ill be mimicking the small butterflies skitter-hither movements. Not too bad a thing to do (smiles).

Jacqueline, thank you so much! I’d forgotten how much I liked this panorama, and am esp grateful for the description, as I’ve recently begun working in watercolors, and this is a style I’d like to try there ❤️
Jacqueline Shuler
Lovely image, Felipe. I liked the contrast of the smooth flowers and butterfly against the pointillistic background!

Bruce Bley - I so appreciate it! This is one of those rare treats for me that I felt combined digital playfulness while keeping the main image intact; there’s a reason I don’t have a lot of this style :)

Beautiful shot, Adan, takes a lot of patience to capture these butterflies, well done :) l/f
Felipe Adan Lerma replied:
Lol, that's the truth! They flitter like tiny leaves in a breeze! :) I do have a few more shot, I'll be interspersing them to break up a big Austin series I'm moving into. Thanks Linda, good to hear from you, you have a lot of patience with nature :)
