Three years ago I rode a bicycle across Lake Champlain from Burlington to South Hero. The Colchester Bike Causeway, an extension from the Burlington Bike Path, is a wonderful creative effort maintained by contributions and the work of local bike group, Local Motion.

This year, for the first time, despite many years’ visits to the Champlain Islands, and to our favorite vineyard here - Snow Farm Vineyards - I noticed I could actually not only see the bike causeway from the small hill next to the winery (Fox Hill) but see even the gap the locally funded bike ferry provides access across!

What made this especially neat for me is I’ve a pic of myself on the bike ferry crossing the gap the ferry operator took of...
