8x8 Intimate Spaces is a new collection series of water soluble paintings I’ve just begun (August 2018).

All the images are painted on 8 inch by 8 inch gallery wrap canvases.

Though some images will “pop” from a distance, certain pleasures will always be meant to only be seen and felt up close. Choosing where to hang - a nook perhaps, or space near where one rests - should prove to be part of its attraction.

Enjoyment and exploration will probably be the hallmarks of this group.

Subject matter and technique will vary as widely as my imagination and inclination may lead me (smiles).

My first piece is a fun piece I consider an angel and our 5 year grandchild wonders is a ghost. This has lead to some interesting conversations between us :)

Texture, in this piece, is thick and free flowing, mostly black and white, with touches of color.

In the solid fields brush strokes and tiny touches of color provide interest, while contrast - sharp or speckly - between the fields creates variety of shape an edge.
